The Widmark Formula
Our calculator uses the Widmark Formula, a widely accepted physiological model for estimating alcohol concentration in the blood.
Gender & Metabolism
Alcohol is water-soluble. Since men typically have a higher body water percentage than women, a man and a woman of the same weight will have different BAC levels after consuming the same amount of alcohol.
Rate of Elimination
On average, the human body eliminates alcohol at a rate of 0.015% per hour. Neither coffee, nor cold showers, nor exercise can speed up this metabolic process.
